What to do if poisoning is suspected
Do not wait for symptoms after a possible medicine, chemical, mushroom or gas poisoning. Understand emergency help and poison advice.
Do not wait with emergency symptoms
For loss of consciousness, breathing difficulty or a seizure, call 112 immediately in Türkiye. Do not wait for a routine appointment with suspected poisoning. The National Poison Advisory Centre on 114 provides advice; contacting it must not delay emergency help.

Get advice even without symptoms
Effects vary with the substance and amount; symptoms can be delayed. Seek immediate guidance from 114 for suspected exposure; call 112 first in a serious situation.
Prepare information for help
- The substance or medicine name, approximate amount, exposure time and the person’s age.
- Keep the packaging if safely accessible; do not delay asking for help to gather information.
Do not try home remedies
Do not induce vomiting. Do not give food, drink or medicine unless directed by a health professional. Stay with the person and watch their breathing; report changes in responsiveness or breathing to 112.
Poisonings are not all alike
Foodborne illness and medicine or chemical poisoning do not share the same home-care advice. Some toxic gases, such as carbon monoxide, have no smell; do not try to sniff a substance or enter a dangerous area. Seek help from a safe place.
